"It's all about that bass"
What does a subwoofer do? The straight forward answer is a subwoofer reproduces very low bass notes - but what does this mean when listening to music?
All speakers will attempt to reproduce low notes, but as most speakers are small in diameter, there just isn't enough sound energy to vibrate the amount of air that the low notes require. However, with a larger speaker, and plenty of power (watts), subwoofers reproduce low notes and sounds
extremely well, adding a range of sound into the music that isn't otherwise heard.
